What Is Back To Baja?

Back To Baja is the ultimate van lovers festival hosted by Flarespace in Baja Mexico. The 3-night, 4-day experience will be hosted on a massive, dry lakebed, and will feature trail rides, excursions, live music, local foods, and much more. We will have a blast adventuring with like-minded people who love vans, travel, and getting off-the-grid as much as we do. All are welcome, even if you don’t have a van.

Where Is The Back To Baja Event?

Our event takes place 36 kilometers west of San Felipe and 3 hours south of the border, at Laguna del Diablo, Baja California, Mexico. This unique location is at the base of Picacho del Diablo, the highest mountain in Baja – a location off the grid, but worth the journey.

What Is VanBuilders Doing?

We are a sponsor of the event! VanBuilders will be there in force, offering ride-and-drives on our all new still-sort-of-secret suspension that we will be unveiling at the event. If you want to test out how you can improve your travel experience, visit our site on the lakebed and take one of our camper vans out for a spin!

We are excited to escape springtime mud by sending it down to Mexico with Flarespace and the rest of the crew.

We are also hosting a border crossing for the event, so that we can all travel south together. A group border crossing can give peace of mind to those who haven’t made the trip to Baja yet.

Excursions

There will be a number of trail rides along off-road paths, road trips to San Felipe, adventures among massive cacti at the Valley of The Giants, and trips to seaside hot springs.

On-site activities include a nightly bonfire and live music, sunrise yoga, and wine tasting. Flarespace has curated four excursions for exploring off-site and, they will offer limited passes for riding Razrs on the Baja500 course and an exclusive Jeff Bader experience.

EL CENTRO – Food and Drink

At the heart of the event, you’ll find El Centro – a space dedicated to gathering. There, you will enjoy local cuisine, cocktails, nightly bonfires, and live music. El Centro will be your meeting point for all activities throughout the weekend and be the location for the VIP tent. Entertainment at El Centro is complimentary, but all food and beverage must be purchased a la carte and cash only.

GIVING BACK

In the spirit of giving back to the community that will help make this event so memorable, Flarespace is embarking on a community project to paint the local school to give back. Proceeds from the event will be used to purchase the supplies and they will be offering attendees the opportunity to arrive early to help paint.

Ticket Information

Whether you’re sleeping in your van or camping out under the stars, the price of admission is per vehicle. Entry includes an allotted space for you to park one vehicle & set yourself up for three nights in northern Baja. In addition to your dedicated spot, admission will also include access to bathroom facilities, hand washing stations, and access to a water truck and on-site medical support, on-site security, and 24-hour oversight of the venue area. Additionally, your ticket includes nightly live music and bonfire, access to local food vendors, the Mirage and Oasis Bars for mixed cocktails and beer, as well as four excursions to embark on daily.

Note: Tickets to the Back to Baja are sold by vehicle and all people staying in that vehicle or on that vehicle’s site are welcome to attend for the same admission price. If you want more space or need a larger spot for your rig, we recommend you upgrade to the VIP Ticket.

There are no other camping areas available at the event site. You can camp on your reserved spot but if you need more space, buy a VIP ticket or two or more General Admission tickets.
